ADAPT

The Alcohol Drug Awareness and Prevention Team (ADAPT) is a student organization providing prevention awareness, alcohol free activities, peer-peer support, and other activities aimed at enhancing the lifestyle and learning environments of students.
 
Click here to send an e-mail to Michaela Perlberg, the ADAPT advisor, to tell him you would like to become a member of ADAPT.  You should hear from Ms Perlberg in a few days regarding your membership.  You may also visit with Ms Perlberg in her office in the ACES Center.
 
 

Student Senate

This organization provides students with experience in the art of self governance.  Through active participation in the Student Senate, members learn about the responsibilities and duties they share with their fellow students.  The organization brings together various extracurricular activities of the college and promotes interest of the college as a whole.  It fosters understanding between the faculty and the students as well as representing the students before the faculty and administration in addressing various issues.
 
To become a member of the Student Senate, contact Jordan White, or visit his office in the Lindquist Center (L010), to pick up an application.
 
 

Phi Theta Kappa

GCC has instituted the Alpha Rho Chi Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.
 
To be eligible for membership a student must have
   (1) completed at least 28 hours of work in courses leading to an Associate Degree
   (2) have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better
   (3) adhere to the school conduct code and posses recognized qualities of good citizenship
   (4) be currently enrolled
 
Students who qualify for enrollment in Phi Theta Kappa will be mailed an invitation to join.
 
 

The Chieftain

The CHIEFTAIN is the school newspaper published by the students periodically during the college year.  The publication review activities of the college and provides news of events, student comments, and personal items.  It offers an opportunity for students interested in getting practical experience in writing and journalism.

Intercollegiate Athletics

Gogebic Community College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and Region XIII.
 
The intercollegiate athletic program provides competition for students in:
 
  • Women's Basketball
  • Men's Basketball
  • Women's Volleyball
  • Women's Softball
  • Men's Baseball
 
Student who participate in athletics must meet NJCAA eligibility requirements (listed in the college catalog).
 
Student who wish to compete in intercollegiate athletics should contact the Athletic Director, Dennis Mackey.
